How much roof area do I need for a solar system?

Roughly 80-100 sq ft of shadow-free area is needed per kW for a standard residential rooftop system. So a 3 kW system needs about 250-300 sq ft and a 5 kW system about 400-500 sq ft. Elevated structures can reclaim area used for water tanks or walkways.

How many units will my system generate?

In Gujarat, a well-designed rooftop system generates about 4 to 4.5 units per kW per day on average across the year, which is roughly 120-135 units per kW per month. A 5 kW system therefore produces around 600-675 units a month.

What subsidy can I get under PM Surya Ghar?

Residential consumers get ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third kW, capped at ₹78,000 for 3 kW and above. Group housing societies get ₹18,000 per kW for common facilities up to 500 kW. Full details are on our Subsidy page.

Will solar work during a power cut?

A standard on-grid system shuts down during a grid outage for safety reasons (anti-islanding). If you need power during outages, we install a hybrid system with a battery bank that keeps your essential circuits running.

What is net metering?

A bi-directional net meter records both the units you import from the grid and the units your solar plant exports. You are billed only on the net difference, and surplus units are carried forward as per DISCOM policy.

How long does the whole process take?

Physical installation takes 1-3 days for most homes. The complete cycle including DISCOM feasibility, installation, net meter and inspection typically takes 3 to 6 weeks depending on your DISCOM's load.

What maintenance does a solar plant need?

Clean the modules with water every 15-20 days (more often in dusty industrial areas) and get one professional health check per year. There are no moving parts, so failures are rare when quality components are used.

What warranties do I get?

Solar modules carry a 25-year linear performance warranty and 10-12 year product warranty. Inverters carry 5-10 years depending on the make. Our workmanship and structure warranty is 5 years, with free service visits included.
